In many countries it is required by law that the car insurance must indicate unlimited third party coverage. In the USA this is not the case. Each state establishes a minimum level of coverage required by law and this may be as low as US$5000.
LIS covers you for liability to the third parties or bodily injuries and property damage only (not rental vehicle) resulting from an auto accident in a rental vehicle, to the maximum total protection of US$1million. Under EP cover, your third party cover is US$1million and also provides coverage up to US$1million to the driver and passengers in the rental vehicle against death or injury caused by the driver of another vehicle who is under insured, uninsured or who commits a hit and run offence (under – uninsured motorist protection – UMP).
